The New Year has a number of important legal developments in store for employers in Illinois. Effective January 2015, the Pregnancy Accommodation amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act will require many employers to update or change their policies and practices with regard to expecting and new mothers. The new Illinois Ban-the-Box legislation will impact application-related procedures. The Payroll Card amendments to the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act, if properly followed, will provide a new, convenient method of payment for many employers in the state.
