Are You Prepared for Ebola and Other Infectious Diseases in the Workplace? What You Need to Know and Do
Gavin S. Appleby, Esq. of Littler Mendelson
The news is all about Ebola - are you prepared for the practical and the legal issues that Ebola may bring? Preparation means having a plan, dealing with travel issues, informing and managing your employees, and meeting the expectations of various agencies, from the CDC to OSHA to the NLRB (yes, even the NLRB can impact this situation.) In addition, ADA, FMLA and HIPAA issues may arise in this context.
But it's not just about Ebola - you also should be prepared for diseases that occur with greater frequency, including Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Meningitis and influenza. This program will discuss the realities of disease prevention and reaction, the law's potentially inconsistent application to these issues, what your plan should cover and how to be ready for these difficult circumstances.
