Gavin S. Appleby, Esq. is a partner with Littler Mendelson, P.C. and was previously Chief Litigation Counsel with Kimberly-Clark Corporation. He has been consistently rated among IAML’s top four instructors over the past 10 years. Mr. Appleby received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from West Virginia Wesleyan College and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia. He has tried or arbitrated in excess of 125 cases and handled over 50 union campaigns, none of which resulted in continuing union representation. Mr. Appleby is featured in IAML’s Certificate in Employee Relations Law Seminar and IAML’s Advanced Certificate in Employment Law Conferences. In addition, Mr. Appleby presents many in-house programs to IAML clients.

Cindy S. Cook is a human resources consultant with more than 20 years of practical experience in both government and large corporate environments. For several years, she worked for American Express, most recently as the director of employee relations. Her experience includes designing, managing and delivering services in such areas as: organizational design; workforce analysis and manpower planning; establishing pay and benefit levels; employee relations; performance evaluation; personnel management policy and procedures; HR management information systems; and skill-specific and developmental training. Her B.S. degree, summa cum laude, in Developmental Psychology is from Westminster College. Ms. Cook is a featured instructor in IAML’s Certificate in Essentials of Human Resource Management seminars and presents in-house programs as well.
