Faculty Biographies

The faculty is composed of outstanding professionals who are leading national experts in their fields. Their extensive on-the-job experience in every aspect of the subjects they teach, combined with their exceptional platform skills create a worthwhile learning experience.

Brenda K. Heinicke is an attorney and employment law consultant. Ms. Heinicke advises and defends employers in a broad range of labor and employment law issues, including discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination cases. She represents employers in all aspects of employment-related litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as in labor arbitrations. Ms. Heinicke is the co-chairperson for the Labor and Employment Department of the El Paso County Bar Association and recently received the bar association's Outstanding Young Lawyer award. She received her J.D., with honors, from the University of Denver Law School and was selected for the Order of St. Ives.

Steven J. Jager, CPA, is the Founder and Principal of Steven L. Jager, CPA, a full-service accountancy corporation. Mr. Jager is listed in Who's Who in Executives and Professionals." He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountings; the California Society of Certified Public Accountants; and the Society of California Accountants. He is also an associate member of the California State Bar, Taxation Section. Mr. Jager received his B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and subsequently studied Accounting, Finance and Marketing at California State University, Los Angeles, and obtained his California CPA Certificate in 1986. Since 1992, Mr. Jager has been a regular and popular instructor at the UCLA Extension Department of Business and Management, and has authored several articles and lectures frequently to business and professional groups.

Steven L. Keleman, Ed.D. has more than 25 years management and consulting experience in the fields of Training and Organizational Development. His trademark: engaged participants in interactive, real-work and outcome-driven programs that improve performance. Mr. Keleman has a solid track record with a wide variety of organizations such as manufacturing, human resources, IT, logistics, nursing and finance. Among the areas he covers are strategic planning, performance and change management, team assessment and improvement, supervisory skills, and decision making. He has been a member of the UCLA Extension Business and Management faculty for over 10 years, teaching courses in management theory and practice. Mr. Keleman studied Human Resources Management at UCLA, and holds a doctor of education degree in Educational Psychology from Indiana University.

Richard D. Wayne is a Senior Partner with Pathways, providing brand, marketing, promotional, internet and personal consulting. His extensive background includes advertising, marketing, and cross-promotion, for a broad variety of national clients and agencies; multiple field marketing and regional successes as well as extensive corporate leadership and award-winning major market advertising and promotional experience. He is a highly sought after speaker known for delivering practical, immediately applicable information in an extremely entertaining manner. He received his M.S. in Communication from Illinois State University. Mr. Wayne is a Past President of the American Marketing Association (Orange County Chapter).

Wayne W. Williams is an attorney in private practice in Colorado Springs. His practice includes employment discrimination and wrongful discharge litigation, employment law advice, traditional labor law and wage and hour law. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia where he was on the editorial board of the Journal of Law and Politics. He was appointed to the National Association of Counties Labor and Employment Steering Committee. He currently is an elected County Commissioner.
